Founded to preserve, enhance, interpret, and celebrate Medfield’s historic Vine Lake Cemetery
As one of Medfield, Massachusetts oldest historic sites, the burial grounds and cemetery was established in 1651 near a small brook at the western edge of town.
For 358 years, it has served as a burial place for Medfield’s early settlers, numerous war veterans, industrialists, farmers, laborers, and ordinary citizens.
Aside from a small burial location reserved for former patients at the Medfield State Hospital, Vine Lake Cemetery continues to be the town’s only active cemetery.
